The Rome/Floyd Recycling Center offers a free pick up service for office paper and corrugated boxes to any business in the Rome and Floyd County area. This program was designed to encourage more business and commercial recycling in our community and it plays a significant role in our volumes of recyclables handled each month at the Center.

Paper generated in the business and industrial sectors can be a large part of their waste volume, so by diverting this material from the waste stream your organization can accomplish several things at once – developing an environmentally responsible approach to waste management; reducing your solid waste costs; helping support the recycling infrastructure; and finally you are no longer paying to throw away a resource that has economic value. Many people do not realize that every ton of office paper thrown into the garbage and sent to the landfill is a loss of approximately $ 80.00 in revenue to the Recycling Center. That $ 80.00 can easily turn into $ 8,000.00 per month with just 100 tons being thrown away. Corrugated boxes also generate revenue if not sent to the landfill and these volumes can easily add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost revenue in a year’s time. The Rome/Floyd Recycling Center is an operation that strives to pay its operating expenses through the sale of our materials and our goal is to not cost you, the taxpayer, any money. We come close each year but really need more organizations participating in the program to fully realize that goal,

Our pick up program is easy to use. Just call the Recycling Center and ask for Dawn. She will get your company information and put you on the route. The only things we ask are that you only have paper, either office or corrugated, in the recycling program and that you place it out where our truck has access to it. By only paper we mean please remove any plastic packaging materials, Styrofoam or other trash from your boxes and no coffee grounds or food stuff in your paper. The Recycling Center supplies you with the bags for your office paper collection.

It is so easy to do and accomplishes so much good. We will be happy to work with your organization to help set up this program. Many times just observing just how much paper and/or boxes are being thrown away in your trash will surprise you and help you quickly see the economic and environmental sense this recycling program makes.
